Al-Itqan Academy Policy on Accusations and Character Assassination
Purpose:
Al-Itqan Academy is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all staff, students, and community members. In accordance with Victorian law, this policy outlines the Academy’s stance on accusations or character assassination made against our teachers, staff, or members. Such actions, particularly when false or detrimental to one’s wellbeing and reputation, will not be tolerated.
Scope:
This policy applies to all parents, guardians, students, and members of the Al-Itqan Academy community. It covers any form of verbal, written, or online communication that is harmful, defamatory, or disrespectful towards our staff or members.
Policy:
1. Zero Tolerance for Character Assassination:
Any accusations or character assassination directed at Al-Itqan Academy staff, teachers, or members, whether in public or private settings, that damages their professional or personal reputation will result in serious consequences.
2. Immediate Expulsion of Students:
If a parent or guardian of a student engages in character assassination or makes false accusations against any of the Academy’s teachers, staff, or members, the student will face immediate expulsion from Al-Itqan Academy. No further notice will be given to the parent or guardian.
3. Expulsion Process:
The Academy reserves the right to expel the student without a formal hearing if evidence suggests that the parent or guardian has engaged in behavior that is harmful or defamatory. This is to ensure the wellbeing of our staff and to uphold the integrity of our community.
4. Right to Appeal:
While the Academy prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of its staff, parents or guardians have the right to submit a written appeal within seven days of expulsion to the principal, Shaykh Daud Dlongolo. The appeal will be reviewed by the principal or his nominee, along with the Academy’s board appointed by Shaykh Daud Dlongolo, and a final decision will be communicated within 14 days.
5. Legal Compliance:
The Academy’s response to character assassination is in line with the Defamation Act 2005 (Vic) and other relevant Victorian laws, which protect individuals from false and damaging statements.
6. Confidentiality:
All matters related to accusations or character assassination will be treated with strict confidentiality. The Academy will not disclose details to any third parties unless required by law.
Enforcement and Review:
This policy will be enforced by the management of Al-Itqan Academy and is subject to periodic review to ensure it remains in accordance with Victorian law.
